Product & Website Design
Compete is a real time one on one learning platform built under Unacademy to make test preparation more dynamic and interactive. Learners are matched with peers based on syllabus completion, creating a fair system where both players compete on equal footing. Each match features a set of five questions with increasing difficulty, judged by accuracy, speed, and complexity of responses.
The platform transforms what is usually a solitary study session into an engaging and motivating experience that keeps learners consistent in their preparation.
Beyond just gamified learning, Compete was designed as a platform that balances entertainment with structured academic value. It combines the thrill of competition with measurable academic outcomes, reinforcing discipline while boosting learner confidence. By integrating gameplay, achievement systems, and progression tracking, Compete becomes more than a tool for practice.
It evolves into a complete ecosystem that celebrates effort, progress, and knowledge growth.

The gameplay experience focuses on fast paced battles between learners that encourage critical thinking under pressure. Each match introduces progressively complex questions, requiring learners to balance accuracy with speed.

Clear result screens highlight performance immediately after each battle, reinforcing achievements while helping learners identify areas for improvement.

Players unlock recognition for completed matches, streaks, and level ups, each reinforced with celebratory visuals designed to be motivating and shareable.
These features transform progress into a rewarding and visible part of the learning journey.
The progression system is designed to reward effort as much as outcomes. By making milestones tangible, whether through daily streaks, level achievements, or leaderboard positions, Compete promotes sustained commitment.
These elements help learners build habits, creating both academic discipline and a sense of accomplishment that fuels continued participation.
DESIGN SYSTEM & HANDOFF
Building Scalable Components for Consistency
Compete was structured around a modular design system that supported smooth collaboration between designers and developers. Core components such as avatars, leaderboards, timers, and question cards were standardized into flexible modules.
This consistency reduced ambiguity, minimized redundancy, and made the design to development process more efficient.
Detailed documentation and clearly defined states provided clarity across all scenarios, including edge cases and interaction variations. By establishing a robust design system early, the product achieved visual and experiential consistency while remaining adaptable to future features.
This ensured that Compete could grow quickly without sacrificing quality or coherence across its expanding ecosystem.
